Unity, self-determination, creativity, purpose, cooperative economics, collective responsibility, and faith are the seven guiding principles of the holiday.

Farai Chideya talks with M.K. Asante Jr. about the film he wrote, directed and produced, The Black Candle: A Kwanzaa Celebration.

Kwanzaa Awareness Festival 12/6

Today was the Stamford Library’s 12th Annual Kwanzaa Awarenss Festival and it was wonderful!!  Crafts were coordinated by Miss Claudia and the kids had a blast making Kwanzaa mats. Drummer/Artist Henry Jones was amazing during the cultural expression segment and teaching the kids on the african drums. Special Guest, comic strip artist, Jerry Craft had the kids enraptured with tips on how to draw! Fun was had by everyone! Check out the new photos in the Flicker Photo slideshow.
