Culture reflects the spirit of our “community.” The City of Stamford looks at the role that culture plays in community development, in revitalizing our neighborhoods, and in the improvement of Stamford’s quality of life. Residents and visitors to Stamford take advantage of our diverse cultural offerings by going to performances, by viewing art in studios, by attending events in our downtown, at our library and in our community centers, through print, radio, and film. It is the City’s objective to embrace our varied cultures by making art accessible to everyone and to positively influence the creation of art. Exposure to the arts can help us understand other perspectives, change personal behavior, and foster greater awareness of others’ needs and aspirations. This “cultural citizenship” in Stamford fosters social cohesion, in which cultural and value differences are respected and celebrated in peaceful and productive ways. We view this cultural growth and its accessibility as crucial to the City’s growth and vitality.

Kwanzaa Awareness Celebration~Dec. 2

Learn how to celebrate Kwanzaa in your home, community centers, churches and schools. African storytelling, family crafts, African drumming workshop and candle lighting. For all ages. Main Library.

What: An evening of information and celebration

 

Topic: Parent Involvement: School, Home and Community.
Highlighting the Principle of Umoja (Unity ) in the Community throught Parent involvment.

FREE and open to the public. Everyone is asked to bring a non-perishable item for the Food Bank.

10th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration @Ferguson

Mark your calendars for the Ferguson Library’s 10th Anniversary Kwanzaa Celebration at the Main Library, Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00pm.
